Our firm has advised leading bunkers suppliers WORLD FUEL SERVICES in obtaining a full recovery of a multimillionaire claim against the German Owners of cruise vessel “ALBATROS”. We were instructed to arrest the vessel on her last port of call (Vigo in the Spanish Northern Coast) before returning to her base port (Bremen) for a 6 month lay-up period during the winter season. It was essential to arrest the vessel before she called at Bremen as otherwise the Owners would have been under no pressure to settle the claim while the vessel was idle. When the vessel was arrested in Spain, she had 800 wealthy German passengers on board and, thus, the Owners had no choice but to pay the full debt, plus interest and costs, within 24 hours.
